Stone is the best remaining example of a once thriving coal company town in Pike County and in eastern Kentucky. Stone Heritage is working to preserve and renew the historic three-building complex built and operated by the legendary Henry Ford. Preservation and reopening of these landmarks will save the community's cultural heritage and sense of place. Currently, Stone Heritage has 600+ members who pay yearly dues to help support the group. Regular meetings consistently draw 30-50 people with guest speakers addressing topics of local interest to the community and to preservation efforts. |
